Santa Barbara had little sun, but the polo was a whole lot of fun for some. There are now three teams without hope to reach the finals. On the winners side Klentner/Grand Champions, Long Beach and Piocho are out. From here on out its a mathematical situation as nobody will know for sure if they are in the semis until Sunday. Even though the current schedule does not prevent fixing, it may change for the betterof polo, we will see. Those teams who have a chance are Lucchese, who are 3 and 0, playing against 0 and 3 Piocho Ranch @ Piocho. Audi who plays ERG are playing and this game should be first as it is very important in the mix in my opinion. The 3 and 0 teams should play first, then everyone else is on their own with no outside help. Zacara is 2 and 1 and they play 0 and 3 GC/KR. In the other game its Grant’s farm also at 2 and 1 vs. Long Beach 0 and 3. Its all been scheduled, so we will see what happens.

Today, however, was a wild one and it was a day to make the flagman work. Up @ Piocho Ranch in a game close at 1/2 time turned in to a loose horse later. Grant’s Farm drilled GC/KR by 16 goals in the last 3. It was the Stick as in Nick Roldan lighting up the goal in the fog, but with a lot of help from ERG teammates. Especially Pablo the Spinach man, who looked like Popeye the way he squirted about the field. I thought he was getting a round a_ _ , but not yet I guess. He was a huge factor in the upset over Zacara, who have had many better days. Super Patron Scott Woods said “play ball boys and wear the orange with pride” and they did as they came back the last 2 chukkers and sealed the deal on Zacara. Now both teams are 2 and 1. Take a break and have lunch because the day is only half over. Long Beach and Daddy Danny was a bad a_ _. He scored at will in the first game vs. the Palomino (Jason Crowder), but the game of polo is played over 6 chukkers or periods and LB got out to a 5-goal lead. Then in came Lucchese and the term fits “these boots are made for walking” because Lucchese never stopped coming. They got closer and closer, but Danny kept reaching back and staying ahead. Then with 6.23 left in the 6th it was Lucchese putting the go head on the board for a bit, but they were back. Then it was Luchese once again taking the lead with no time on the clock and now they are the biggest surprise as they are 3 and 0.

Then at 4 + it was the fog rolling right back in and it was Audi and their solid 24 goals rolling up on a battling Piocho Ranch with Tom Barrack fighting like a Comanche and Memo Gracida leading the charge. They tried and willed there 20-goal team to do it, but it was not enough as they led some chukkers and were tied often. It was Audi at the final bell up by 3 and it was like the handicap says, at least 3 goals underrated.

There were a lot of goals scored today like 97 or so. We guarantee you will not be bored, so come on up and see those ponies run. Hey the sun will shine on Sunday.

See ya.
