DENVILLE, N.J. June 1 – The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, will hold its annual Polo Classic on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Hillsborough Country Club in Hillsborough, New Jersey.  The family-focused event, now in its 24th year, is officially sponsored by Eisai Inc.  Proceeds will help benefit the programs and services the Association provides to the estimated 350,000 New Jersey individuals and their care partners who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

The Polo Classic features world-class polo players and ponies competing on a tent-lined field before thousands of attendees.  Complementing the polo match is a full schedule of family-friendly activities: an antique car display, stilt walkers, balloon artists, plus face painting, pony rides, and a trackless train.  At half-time, spectators can enjoy the Amwell Valley Hounds show and the traditional divot-stomping.  Tailgate gatherings inside tents range from elaborate catered parties to simple picnics.

WCBS-TV Weekend Meteorologist Elise Finch will appear as a celebrity guest.  Danielle Micale, the recently crowned Mrs. New Jersey International 2011, will appear as a special guest.

In addition to Eisai Inc., other key supporters include BAE Systems, Deloitte, Johnson and Johnson, the Knights of Columbus, M. Rothman & Co., and New Jersey Health Care.

Gates open at 1 p.m., with the competitive polo match beginning at 3 p.m.  The alternate date is June 25. Vacation raffle tickets for a vacation ( request booklets here https://alznj.wufoo.com/forms/s7x3k7/) for two for a four-night stay at The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona (donated by Gavel International) or a 40” Sharp AQUOS LCD TV (donated by Sharp Electronics) are also being sold for $5 a piece and $25 for a book.  (According to the IRS, raffle tickets are not tax deductible.)
