Photo of Steve CrowderThe Pope (Ed Pope) took it all as his Aspen Oaks, with a bit of organization, brought in by the Captain Fernando Pilego and the young guns Juan Curbeolo and Matias Obregon. Coupled with a a double-tough patron, Aspen Oaks proved they were just a little too much for the Danny’s of Ohana with Ms. Kelly Maloney. As Aspen Oaks collected the second big one in San Diego. It was a very good and very close game that saw both teams in their first finals of ’07. It was a very nice final on a very nice day for polo. In the low-goal it was Billy Boy Hoyman, not wanting to get knocked out of this one, who fired ’em up and did it well. They were the silver holders in the 4-Goal Finals.

Back East it was the Mig and Rocket (Miguel and Santi Torres) winning another one in Greenwich, CT in the 22-Goal East Coast Open. In Kentucky its Jofie (Joseph Stuart) trying to make another finals. The big boys are headed to Sheridan, WY and Calgary, Canada where Smokin’ Joe Henderson has been doing well with Mr. Rooney and the Tusk Energy team. They are in the first finals up that way.

In Santa Barbara its time for the Skene Cup and it starts on Friday where some 8’s and 9’s will be hitting the plastic hard and far.

Story is out that Mr. Keys opened up Hidden Creek on Independence Day. There was a lot of fireworks as Wild Bill Freeman and Sean Keys had a real dandy of an exhibition match. Not sure, but possibly Wild Bill won it. This could soon be the IPC of the West right there in Portland, Oregon. Click here to view the write up and photos Lynn Bremner took at Hidden Creek Polo Club on July 4th, ’07. They have some sticks up there as Mr. Bray is the ramrod. You also have the Lawman there. Fergus Gould and Craig Steinke are near as well as the Pickle as in Dill or Mr. George Dill. He was also seen on the field on the 4th of July.

Lots of action in and about the West as the hills of Cierra Pampa (Petaluma, CA) are already rockin’ as JP and Filthy Bill are on the run. So get out and see those ponies run wherever you are.

See ya.
