The U.S. Polo Association was established in 1890 and is the National Governing Body for the sport of polo. The Association was organized and exists for the purposes of promoting the game of polo, coordinating the activities of its Member Clubs and Registered Players, arranging and supervising polo tournaments, competitions, and games, and providing rules, handicaps, and conditions for those tournaments, competitions, and games including the safety and welfare of participants and mounts.

Benefits of Registered and Affiliate Player Members:

Handicap Rating & Membership Card: Each Player Member receives a handicap rating that allows the Player to participate in USPA Tournaments and USPA Umpire/Polo Training Programs that are financially supported by the Polo Training Foundation. As Winston Churchill said, “A Polo Handicap is a passport to the World”.

The Excess Legal Participant Liability coverage: Each registered player receives excess liability insurance coverage that serves as added protection for third party claims. Provided by Lloyds of London through Equisure, this coverage applies from the time your dues are processed by the United States Polo Association until December 31st of each year.

USPA Rules & Rules Interpretation Guide: Each Player member receives a yearly handbook of rules, rule interpretations, tournament conditions, and umpire mechanics, with examples and explanations. Outdoor and arena rules videos are available upon request at no charge through the Polo Training Foundation.

USPA Polo Plus Member Savings Program: The Polo Plus program offers USPA members the opportunity to enjoy cost savings on “common household” brand name products and services for their polo needs and for their individual business needs. Polo Plus partners include: John Deere, Office Depot and much more. All sales made through this program will come back to the USPA to help support other USPA affiliated polo programs.

Polo Players’ Edition Magazine: A subscription to the “official monthly publication of the USPA” comes with the Player membership. This magazine keeps the Player Member informed of news and developments associated with the sport of polo, to provide a forum for free expression and debate with respect to the sport, to incorporate editorials that provide training tips and educational information for polo players, and to provide updates of tournament results.

USPA Annual Yearbook: Each Player member receives an annual compilation of tournament and award winners, USPA Constitution & Bylaws, Outdoor & Arena Rules, and individual contact information on the entire membership with their handicap ratings and umpire certifications.

Access to polo resources and membership information: Access to polo resources and membership information: With the toll free access number (800) 232-USPA (8772), the USPA staff provides support and assistance with membership renewals, information requests, handicap and membership confirmations, guidance in tournament formats, tournament applications, and anything else that our members may need. USPA members can also find what they need online at www.uspolo.org where they can download forms, applications, search handicaps and much more!

Voice in the Association: Through the Member Club each Player Member has a degree of ownership in the Association and the ability to voice opinions, participate on Committees, and vote in the annual USPA Governor elections.

Benefits of Associate Members:

The Associate Member of the USPA is a social member that enjoys all the individual benefits outlined below. The annual registration fee is $100 payable any time during the calendar year.

An Associate Member receives all USPA publications including the USPA Yearbook and Membership Directory along with the Polo Players’ Edition magazine which includes the USPA News Bulletin.

Access to polo resources on the USPA website and polo correspondence via electronic news releases.

USPA Polo Plus Member Savings Program: the Polo Plus program offers USPA members the opportunity to enjoy cost savings on “common household” brand name products and services for their polo needs and for their individual business needs. Polo Plus partners include: John Deere, Office Depot and much more. All sales made through this program will come back to the USPA to help support other USPA affiliated polo programs.

An Associate Membership includes a membership card, USPA car decal, and an individual listing in the USPA Yearbook & Membership Directory.
