The 2016 edition of the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at the historic Will Rogers Park in the Los Angeles suburb of Pacific Palisades was another rousing success with celebrities and champagne intermingled with a spirited game of polo.

The Black Watch team (Delfina Blaquier, Bill Ballhaus, Nacho Figueras and Tom Barrack) came out on top this year, defeating the Veuve Clicquot lineup of Jenny Alter, Joel Baker, Marcos Llambias and Alfonso Giannico, 10-8.

Delfina Blaquier, wife of Nacho Figueras, scored four goals in the game and took MVP honors much to the delight of a standing room only crowd.

Nacho indicated that his son Hilario Figueras would be joining him along with Bill Ballhaus in 12-goal competition this winter at the Grand Champions Polo Club.  For years, Nacho competed with Neil Hirsch’s Black Watch team at the 26-goal level at Wellington’s International Polo Club, and he has returned from time to time to participate in charity matches, most recently being a fund raiser for Prince Harry’s favorite charity, Sentebale, where the two played on opposing teams.
