Cancun demonstrates its diversity and style when selected to host the next Caribbean Polo Cup.

In January 2006, Cancun was the perfect setting to build El Rey Polo Country Club, where players from all over the world have come to participate in major polo tournaments. Similarly, it has been the site for exclusive fashion and social events of international stature such as Fashion TV and E! Entertainment where well-recognized personalities have made appearances, including polo player Carlos Gracida and international actor and polo player Tommy Lee Jones, as well as the most popular socialites and jet set in Mexico.

Following this pattern of hosting events which combine sports, glamour and lifestyle, Cancun will host the Caribbean Polo Cup (Rose Cup) on September 27, which will be the first international polo event ever held in Cancun, taking place at the incredible El Rey Polo Country Club located at km 11.5 in Puerto Morelos.

The opening match will take place at 2:00 pm between Merida and Cancun. The Merida team will be composed of Otto Ríos, Ralph Lesinski, Paulino Díaz and Paulino Díaz Jr. while Alejandro Verdayes, Cedric Schweri, Jose Winnie and Romarico Arroyo will represent Cancun. The main match will be at 4:00 pm with Mexican representatives Manolo Calvo, Alex Mancini, Bo Marcelin and Javier Sesa, against the Dominican Republic team of Marco Zubroid, Pablo Ramírez, Edgardo Inés and Paulino Román.

Guests of honor at the event include the ambassador for the Dominican Republic to Mexico, the Constitutional Governor of Quintana Roo and the Governor of Yucatan, among others.
