Villa de Lago received one goal by handicap and picked up another from Agustin Obregon, but Goose Creek answered with a pair of goals from Martin Zegers and a goal from Jose Donoso for an early 3-2 lead.

Goose Creek got goals from Zegers, Donoso and Geronimo Obregon in the second chukker while Villa de Lago’s Carlucho Arellano converted a penalty shot.   Goose Creek led, 6-3.

Donoso added another goal to the Goose Creek total in the third period, but Arellano put three goals on the scoreboard for Villa de Lago.  The Goose Creek lead was reduced to a single goal, 7-6 as the first half ended.

Zegers converted a 60-yard penalty shot in the fourth period, but Tomas Obregon kept Villa de Lago in the hunt with his first goal of the game.  Villa de Lago trailed Goose Creek 8-7 going into the fifth chukker.

Villa de Lago shut down the Goose Creek offense for the first time all day while Tomas Obregon scored three unanswered goals.  Villa de Lago took the lead 10-8 with one chukker in regulation time left to play.

As the sixth chukker opened, Zegers scored the first goal on a penalty shot.  Arellano countered with a Villa de Lago score for an 11-9 advantage.  Goose Creek fought back, however, getting another goal from Zegers and a tying goal from Maureen Brennan.

After a brief intermission both teams returned to the field.  Less than two minutes into the sudden-death overtime period, Arellano scored the winning goal in the 12-11 victory.

The win lifts Villa de Lago into the finals on Sunday.

Zegers led all scorers with six goals.  Donoso scored three times and Brennan and Geronimo Obregon scored one goals apiece.

Arellano scored five times for Villa de Lago, including the game winner in overtime.  Tomas Obregon added four goals and Agustin Obregon added two more for the win.

CIRCA 8, METAL TEK 6

In an earlier Freebooters Classic semifinal match, Circa surged to a 6-4 halftime lead before cruising to an 8-6 win over Metal Tek.

Metal Tek’s James Armstrong scored the only goal of the first chukker on a 60-yard penalty shot for the 1-0 lead after the opening seven and-a-half minutes of lay, but Circa roared back in the second, picking up three goals (two on penalty shots) from Tomas Garcia Del Rio.  Single goals from Robert Orthwein and Stevie Orthwein had it all even at the end of two, 3-3.

Circa came out firing in the third getting single goals from Garcia Del Rio, Martin Pepa and Carlitos Gracida.  Metal Tek managed a penalty goal from Stevie Orthwein, but Circa held a 6-4 halftime lead.

Both defenses tightened in the fourth, with shots being pushed wide and shots at goal missing their target.  Neither team connected, and the score remained 6-4 in favor of Circa.

Garcia Del Rio converted another penalty shot for a goal in the fifth, but Armstrong’s second goal of the game kept Metal Tek within striking distance, trailing 7-5.

Pepa scored to put Circa up, 8-5 in the sixth but Metal Tek fought back and picked up a goal from Will Johnston.  The Circa defense clamped down once again, however, and the game ended with Circa embracing an 8-6 victory and a date in the Freebooters Classic finals on Sunday against Villa de Lago.
