Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

2010 WILL BE THE FIRST YEAR OF THE NEW 10 YEAR PLAN AND IT LOOKS TO BE A DANDY ONE FOR ALL. As we head into the fall season it is only months away to the New Year and it could be a great start to the new decade of top notch polo at El Dorado Polo Club. What we will NOT see is bad FIELDS, EMPTY stalls and VACANT roads.  It looks to be fast polo coming this winter to the desert.  They will have GOOD fields, full barns and lots of ACTION. El Dorado is rolling back prices to the ’06 numbers as they know how tough things are.  They want YOU to play POLO.

The feature league looks to be the 12-goal with some big names gone and some bigger ones coming in.  The Hawks are headed South as well as Valiente to taste the Atlantic in Florida.  Rumor is ERG, the Texas Giants, may be coming to the desert.  The Lonesome Dove and his Lady Dawn, as in Tommy Lee and Dawn Jones, SAN SABA may hit the desert polo scene. We are looking forward to the return of The Colorado Cowgirl (Jenny Luttrell) and her Cottrell Farms squad.  There is even talk of the return of Mansour to challenge the Antelope and Cottrell Farm teams and Dany Walker’s Long Beach or Palm Desert.   I’m wondering if  this will be the comeback of Windsor Capital and the Governor Pat Nesbitt?

Guess who else is back from the Rockies?  It will be Cam Clark and his Ford Patrol as they take over for the Hawks so Calgary will be well represented. With the help of much improved fields at both Eldorado and Empire, who has been poring the sand on their fields, we should have some speedy polo and even get to play with Texas Polo balls. The club is also bringing back the crossover fees and giving you a stall break if you board a team at the club which should be improved as many pens will be taken down and restructured after many years. All of these changes these are part of building a new and fun return to the good ole days in the desert, before it became a high-end homestead for the northerners. Which was not all bad, as they added many high-end Restaurants and shops to the landscape and a whole lot more green to the view. With the development, we may have lost a few Coyotes in the process and scattered the Road Runners. So get your program and find out what you want to compete in and remember . . . all teams must have two Americans on it with a passport that says United States of America. So get ready to let the good times roll.
