El Remanso (Charlie Hanbury, Oliver Cudmore, James Beim and James Harper) drew first blood Friday afternoon in Cowdray Park Polo Club’s 2017 Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge by defeating Talandracas (Edouard Carmignac, Guillermo Caset, Pelon Stirling and Jack Hyde) in the opening match of the tournament by a score of 12-9.

Tournament play continues on Saturday with a 1pm game between Murus Sanctus (Corinne Ricard, Hilario Ulloa, Facundo Sola and Dirk Van Reenen) and Sommelier (George Hanbury, Juan Gris Zavaleta, Fred Mannix and Alec White).

Murus Sanctus will be boasting the talents of Argentine 10-goaler Hilario Ulloa in its lineup and hoping for better results than those accomplished by Talandracas 10-goaer Pelon Stirling in the Talandracas defeat.

Two games are on tap for Sunday, May 14th with King Power Foxes (Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, TBA, Gonzalito Pieres and Facundo Pieres) taking the field against La Bamba de Areco (Jean Francois Decaux, Diego Cavanagh, Magoo Laprida and Rodrigo Rueda, Jr.) in an 11am game.

The King Power Foxes have a one-two punch with Facundo Pieres and Gonzalito Pieres, brothers who carry impressive 10-goal ratings.  Francois Decaux’s La Bamba de Areco team will rely on the leadership of veteran 8-goalers Diego Cavanagh and Magoo Laprida.

At 1pm, Michael Bickford’s 2016 Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge championship  La Indiana team (Michael Bickford, Nic Roldan, Agustin Merlos and Luke Tomlinson) will take the first step in defending their title when they face Talandracas (0-1).

Talandracas will have one game under their belt as they attempt to level their record against La Indiana.  Returning three of their four players from last year’s winning team (Bickford, Roldan and Merlos) and adding a formidable Back in English internationalist, Luke Tomlinson, La Indiana is certain to present a major challenge to Talandracas.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge matches are also scheduled to be played on both Wednesday and Thursday with the final scheduled to be played on Sunday, May 21st.
