Governor’s Cup Tournament

Denver Polo Club hosted the Rocky Mountain Circuit Governor’s Cup.
Evergreen Polo started very strong, but missed a several goal opportunities. Ernie Ezcurra scored the first goal of the game from a penalty 3. The defending champions from last years tournament came back to raise the score 2 to 1. Maximo Bardin added two tallies, but before the first chukker ended, Bob Koehler leveled the score to two a piece.
In the second chukker, Roxy Keyfauver made a long run scored to put Evergreen ahead, 3 to 2. Gonzalo Siles answered with another goal before the half time.
In the second half Ezcurra converted a well hit penalty four. Keyfeuver extended the gap by two, 5 to 3. In the last period Ezcurra added a goal off the throw-in. Bardin added a little suspense to the game by scoring a nice goal, but Koehler sealed the victory with an amazing long run down the field.
The final score was 7 to 4 in favor of Evergreen Polo Team.
Machi Bardin was named the MVP of the game. A horse named Julie, owned and played by Ernie Ezcurra won Best Playing Pony.
