The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

This time of the year the jet stream is definitely  blowing east and west coast players are getting there fast. Even if they are from anywhere west of the mighty Mississippi or south. Jjust last week Matias Torres Zavaleta was galloping alongside Geof Palmer with his Antelope team yesterday. He was leading the charge with Robert Jornayvaz and Valiente 2 on their way to the semis of the 26-goal Whitney Cup.  He did very well as well scoring 3 or 4 goals of course.  Just 2 years ago Robert Jornayvaz and Valiente was winning all the 4 goal tournaments in the desert and Pop Big Bob was playing in the 12-goal right here in the desert . Now they have probably the best two teams in the 26-goal league  in FL. They have a lot of West coast company as Jason Crowder is in the finals of the 20-goal Ylvisaker Cup today and Santi Torres just missed the finals. Joesph Stuart and Nick Galindo are in charge on the west Coast of FL.  The Mannix Brothers Julian and Fred 2 are in the finals of the 26-goal Les Armour Cup.

Out here in the West it has been a very good winter weather wise and all things are looking up at both clubs in the Desert. At El Dorado it’s the Seniors and the Ladies taking the  main billing.  Over at Empire it will be a couple of finals as the Lions roar over the big tents. In the 4-goal it will be Thermal Polo packing a couple of Canadians in the form of Dayelle Farey and Rege Whyte as they take on Trinity with a Flower as Rick Paicius leads his Flower Davey to the main show. It will be followed by Empire 10 led by Craig Steinke and Eric Hammon as they try to keep up with Fast-etta (Mariano Fassetta) and they take on Silent Chris and Ms. Figi and Gypsy/Tritech in a big showdown for the Feb. Silver. And yes, there will be a big party without a doubt as the Al’s of Empire just love a good time.

so be happy
