The Polo Report by Steve Crowder – It was the Little Mac (Frederick Mannix, Jr.) showing his wares down South in Florida as he blew by the boys from Patagones. Out West it was Big Mac (Fred Mannix, Sr.) and Mini Mac (Julian Mannix) took over for a lost 4- goaler (Henry Z. was on the injured list) and lead a hard-charging Fish Creek Hawks to the bronze round. They smashed Dudley’s Casa Blanca on a very bad day in the Desert. We round out the worst weather in North America. It was about 60 degrees this a.m. and then a 20 mile per hour wind kicked up and a sh _ _ y day for all of us including a few very happy golfers in the Bob Hope. It was Dandy Dan Horn and Palm Desert keeping their undefeated streak on a roll. Casa Sombres ran by Mc Polo as did Empire Polo doing their job on Kentfield. Big Ed Pope and Aspen Oaks kept the boys of La Mancha down below and Mr. Smooth (Curt Hughes) started a very good day on an awful one (weather wise) as he helped Generation Motors to a victory over Rancho Santa Fe. As the wind grew so did Calgary as they had a True Choice Team for lunch. Carnation Farms minus the Queen survived the wind and took out JV Ranch while all others headed for the football games. It was a smokin’ Joe Anthony and Rancho Amistad having their way with Parklane as the Wolfman (Ashton Wolf) buried a big one in the end,. In the big wind it was Mr. Smooth and his Friendly Chevy 12-goal team ran over Phoenix Team who needed eyes for the golden goals on such a lovely day. We had a huge crowd of 30 to watch it as it was not a day for the Gold and Black in football or Polo as Phoneix and New Orleans had very unfriendly day. Tony is still looking for a #2 with a Palomino’s hair under his cap. aybe Pierre can show him his locks someday as he said he liked the jerseys as they were easy to read, so he says. The hair on Pierre is short and black and the Palomino is long and blonde. It was a windy nasty day. See ya
