The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

One thing we have always known about California Polo is that they like it to be low cost. Empire Polo Club and the Lions are giving it away this weekend and it will be a full house without a doubt. Empire Polo is doing something that is never done … treating Polo Players and want-to-be Polo players to a view of grandeur.  Empire is a special place to be with the beauty of magnificent landscaping and pristine polo grounds.

This weekend it is free!  All we ask with such an amazing gesture … Polo People please do not abuse it. You have everything to gain and Lord knows Polo needs all the help it can get. So stop by and tell them thanks and buy a drink for the Boss, who is making this happen … Alex Haagen, III.

Enjoy the weekend and see the lake, the rose gardens (8,000 bushes/130 varieties) the club grounds and imagine this could be the future of polo in the Desert, but of course it is not going to be free. It will be Polo beyond your imagination. A new decade is about to begin, so lets make it the best in the last century.

Also around Polo in the South, Alegria and Julian Mannix headed to the semis in the Ellerstina Gold Cup and he has some familiar names with him including the Zavalta’s as in Clemente and (Negro) Juan Gris, who got them there. We wish them good luck in the finals. In the bigger Polo, it is just about to get underway as the Open or as they say Palermo starts.

See ya where the Lions ROAR.
