La Indiana’s Nic Roldan will be counted on to provide the offensive punch alongside Agustin Merlos in Wednesday’s semifinal of the 2017 Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge at Cowdray Park Polo Club Wednesday morning.

In a virtual semifinal of the 2017 Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge Wednesday morning at 10:30am at the Cowdray Park Polo Club, La Indiana (Michael Bickford, Nic Roldan, Agustin Merlos and Luke Tomlinson) and El Remanso (Charlie Hanbury, Oliver Cudmore, James Beim and James Harper) will battle to win the first final berth in the 22-goal tournament.

Both teams had won their tournament opener in the three-team bracket with El Remanso opening tournament play with a 12-9 win over Talandracas (Edouard Carmignac, Guillermo Caset, Pelon Stirling and Jack Hyde).  La Indiana dispatched Talandracas two days later by a much closer margin, 11-10, with the help of four sixth chukker goals from Agustin Merlos.

La Indiana is fighting to retain the right to defend its 2016 Jaeger-LeCoultre Trippetts Challenge title while Charlie Hanbury’s El Remanso lineup will be proudly competing as the tournament’s only All-English team.

The final two games of preliminary play will begin on Thursday with Murus Sanctus (Corinne Ricard, Hilario Ulloa, Facundo Sola and Dirk Van Reenen) facing La Bamba de Areco (Jean Francois Decaux, Diego Cavanagh, Magoo Laprida and Rodrigo Rueda, Jr.) at 1pm.

The final two teams in the second bracket of the seven-team field, King Power Foxes (Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Charles Cooney, Gonzalito Pieres and Facundo Pieres) and Sommelier (George Hanbury, Juan Gris Zavaleta, Fred Mannix and Alec White), will take to the field on Friday at 11 am.

The tournament final is set to be played on Sunday, May 21st, and will serve as a preview of seven of the ten teams that will be competing in the 2017 Queens Cupnext week.
