Memorial Invitational

WrightWay Polo Center North is inviting San Francisco Bay area residents and polo fans alike to attend its signature polo tournament, the Mack & Madelyn Jason Memorial Invitational taking place Sunday –July 1 – at its Menlo Polo Club division, 190 Park Lane, in Atherton, California.  The event serves to honor one local family’s legacy and contribution to growing the sport of polo while celebrating polo’s rich history in the area.  The polo tournament is free and open to the public and offers an enjoyable and lively experience for individuals of all ages.  Matches will begin at noon PDT.

The memorial tournament will honor Mack and Madelyn Jason, the parents of Menlo Polo Club President Lyn Jason Cobb.  Mack who passed away this year was Menlo Polo Club president for more than 40 years and the club was founded by Lyn’s grandfather, William Gillmore, in 1923. The club is one of the oldest in California.  Lyn and her daughter, Madelyn Cobb, will be making a special appearance playing together in the tournament this year, making it a unique celebration of four generations of polo at the club and in the Bay Area.

“This event gives us a chance to pay tribute to the legacy of the Cobb family and their commitment to polo and its development in the local community,” said Erik Wright, professional polo player and founder of WrightWay Polo Center North. “Polo has a great deal of history in this area and all over California, so we’re happy to host the event and showcase polo for fans and get them excited about participating.”

“Ambassadors like Erik Wright and the Cobb family have elevated the sport to new heights in this area and without dedicated individuals like them, we wouldn’t be seeing the impressive growth we are today,” said Denny Geiler , U.S. Polo Association’s Pacific Coast Circuit Governor. “We look forward to polo’s continued expansion as Erik and WrightWay Polo Center North lead the way and continue to build programs and offer opportunities for new players to learn about the sport and receive top-notch training.”
