The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

THESE 4 TEAMS TAKE HOME THE CASH AND THE TITLES OF 2016 FINAL WEEKEND.

It was a fablous weekend of polo in Indio and the Coachella Valley this past weekend.  In a couple weeks they will be 100,000+  visitors defending on the desert polo clubs for the world-renknowed Coacheall Music & Art Festival, one of the biggest in the world.  But for polo they drew crowds of 3000 at Eldorado and near 5000 at Empire.

They got what they paid for at both centers. Over at the Magic Place, Empire Polo Club owned by Mr. Haagen, it was the Texans (as in Tim Kelly and Lockton)  taking home the big one in overtime.  In the minor leagues it was the Top Guns of Bayne Bossom and Conrad Kissling, both too young to drive, taking orders from Captain Cossio, as in Diego.  They hit the target often enough to take the money and the silver home to a famous place called Will Rogers Polo Club in the center of it all, near Hollywood.

Next door at Eldorado it was the Canadians taking home the big one called the “Governors Cup.”  Mr. Rooney never leaves town without some silver and he kept his record clean with Mr. Henderson and speed demon Dayle Fargy.  She is lady who weighs maybe a 100 lbs  and will take down a Tesla on the run.  They were joined by young gun Jimmy Wright. They stopped Virgil and Ryan in a wild one.

The next and final game was the Skins.  There is a bit of magic to this one.  Each chukkar is a game and it is cash for each chukkar. Even though the cash for a chukkar will probably not buy a Texas Polo saddle and Bridle, I do not think it matters.  A bit of $ changes it all and it gets wild, dangerous and physical. It is also so much fun for the spectators and players.  A brand new sponsor called Madison Club with  some help from Jenny Alexi decided to give it a try. They came up with some magic with Smoking Joe 2 …  Joseph Stuart.   who is setting on 90 so he can go a 100 in 5 seconds.  Jenny, who has a knack for getting there quick along a workhorse by the name of Jared Sheldon were all backed up by the Doctor, who had 2 finals today. He was 1 and 1,  but very happy I am sure. They stopped Canada’s Ron Mathesion in a good one winning 4 of 6 Chukkars, so they got the major cash in this one.

The season comes to end today in the desert as everyone starts preparing for the big one … 2016 Coachella Music and Arts Festival, which will have a little bigger crowd like maybe 125,000 per weekend in 3 weeks. Well done winners and thanks so much for everyone who was here this year. Come on back next season as it will just get BETTER.

see ya
