GORDON ROSS REMAX WINS MIKE FRANCIS CUP
The Mike Francis Cup was played from July 4th-15th as a 4-5 Goal tournament. Four
teams competed, including: Gordon Ross Remax, Cochran-Identity, B.A. Robinson
and Tekarra. Cochran-Identity and Gordon Ross Remax qualified for the tournament final, each with a win-loss record of 2-1. Wiley and Patrick Uretz were the lead goal-scorers for Gordon Ross Remax in the qualifying games: Wiley with 5 goals and Patrick with 9 goals over the course of the 3 games. For Cochran-Identity, Tomas Obregon and John Rooney were the lead goal-scorers: John with 8 and Tomas with 5 goals in the 3 games.

B.A. Robinson and Tekarra met in the consolation game and the final was played between Cochran-Identity and Gordon Ross Remax. Anne Evamy, John Rooney and Tomas Obregon each scored in the first half, giving Cochran-Identity an early lead of 3-1at the half. But Patrick Uretz and Juan Curbelo turned on the heat for the 2nd half, scoring 5 goals between the two of them. Gordon Ross Remax secured the Mike
Francis Win with a final score of 6-4.

HAWKS ARE REPEAT WINNERS OF J. VAIR ANDERSON CUP
Three teams vied for the 2009 J. Vair Anderson Cup: The Hawks, Ivanhoe and
Blizzard. In the first tournament game, the Hawks beat out Ivanhoe with a score of 7-5.
Julian Mannix and Juan Curbelo each scored 3 goals for the Hawks and Diego Cossio
scored 4 out of 5 goals for Ivanhoe. The 2nd tournament game saw Ivanhoe
narrowly defeat Blizzard with a score of 10-9. Daniel Roenisch scored the overtime
goal to clinch the win for Ivanhoe. Blizzard took down the Hawks in the next game with a
score of 7-5.

With a three-way tie in win-loss records, net goals determined the teams for the final:
Blizzard and the Hawks. In a close battle for the prized Tissot watches, players on both teams rose to the challenge. Tomas Obregon scored 4 goals for Blizzard
and Julian Mannix and Juan Curbelo each scored 3 goals for the Hawks. The game was
tied at 7-7 going into the final chukker, but with a goal from the field, Julian Mannix
secured the repeat win for the Hawks. Julian, Juan, Joe and Kyle proudly accepted the

The 2009 Gilgit Cup

The Gilgit Cup was played over the past week. There were 4 teams involved
in the 4-5 goal tournament, Cochran, Identity-ReMax, Blizzard and the Hawks.
Several new and returning players participated in the tournament including: Pat
Powell and Reg Whyte on the Cochran team, Anne Evamy and Gordon Ross on the Identity-ReMax team, Rob Foster and John Rooney on Blizzard, and Julian Mannix and
visiting player Gerald Levin from Winnipeg on the Hawks.

Games on June 25th saw Identity-ReMax beat out Cochran, and the Hawks
defeat Blizzard. Reg Whyte scored a goal for Cochran, and bought a case of beer for an
unplanned dismount. Lee Nilsson also led Identity-ReMax to victory that day with 4
goals from the field.

Saturday games saw Blizzard win over Identity-ReMax. Nicolai Galindo scored 4
goals, and both Rob Foster and Scotty Mac Cunningham took a goal a piece. The next
game was very close between Cochran and the Hawks, with the Hawks winning by just
one goal in the final chukker. Julian Mannix scored 3 goals for the Hawks and Kyle
Fargey scored 2.

On the final day of the tournament Blizzard beat out Cochran with 1 goal from
Rob Foster and 2 from Wylie Uretz. Identity- ReMax challenged the Hawks with Gordon
Ross scoring 1 goal from the field for his team, but in the end the Hawks won with a
final score of 3-2, and with a final  tournament record of 3 wins the Hawks were
the winners of the 2009 Gilgit Cup.
