For the last 3 months it has been building and much different than many thought I am sure.It has always been 3 maybe 4 in the minds La Dolphina , La Aquada, Ellerstina maybe Pilara or Estancia Grande. But I doubt many thought anymore than 2 for the last 5 weeks as I am sure Ellerstina has shocked many to be so strong so quick. I know it surprised me as I thought with Gonzo and Facundo they would be tough but little thought they would win any of the big 3 but they did the first and came too close in the second Hurlingham . I am a huge fan of Gonzalo’s but had little thought Nick would come to this level but there is no doubt he has and very fast. I really thought La Dolphina would smoke all others even with a new team the are all amazing and they had AC to run the show . I just was shocked when E. came back and won Tortugas and surprised at the comeback in the Hurlingham as LD was blowing them away in both early but it was a piece of Pop GP it is never over if they are behind if ahead you always think they are going to be caught but never quite get there. There is little doubt these two have ruled Argentine Polo for a while like a decade as AC has been in nearly ever final but 2004 and since Ellerstina formed a new team they have been there for 6 years now 6 of the 8 finalist of last couple of years return but a whole new puzzle Nero and Pablo on are on the other side with the 2 newcomers with Ellerstina Nicklas Pieres and Mr Heguy who has at least 1 title in 2004 and maybe more and a Heguy – Pieres combo must blow the old guard away. I would think that tomorrow you will see the best horses ever seen in the finals and maybe the best players in our lifetime as at least 4 are as good as there have ever been and 2 very close and one just past his prime so it should be a Polo Holiday wherever you are. My prediction is LD by 2 and it will be very fast .
Palm Beach is next and after seeing what Ray Mooney has done at IPC there is no better place to play Polo anywhere they will need BA speed because the fields will fly and the only thing that can stop it is Mother nature those fields are WOW. May all be safe at Palermo and it be a great game and in 24 hours there will be no doubt who is Champion of the World.
