ELLERSTINA ETIQUETA NEGRA BEAT LA DOLFINA JAEGER LECOULTRE AND GOT THE 114º HURLINGHAM CLUB MERCEDES BENZ OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Ellerstina Etiqueta Negra (38) goals beat the undefeated until now, La Dolfina Jaeger LeCoultre 38 goals) by 15 to 12 to win the 114th Hurlingham Club Mercedes Benz Open Championship, one of the tree most important open competitions of the high-goal polo in the World. Eight teams participate and each team is rated between 29 to 39 goals. The winner received the Ayrshire Cup and the second place team got the Juan Ravenscroft Cup (in memory of a great player and member of the board of the primitive River Plate Polo Association). The game was played today, Saturday, November 10th in field 1. Both teams showed their possibilities for the 114º Movistar Argentine Open Championship introduced by Mercuria Energy Group, to be played in Palermo between 11/17 and 12/8.
During the seventh chukker, Ellerstina got the right tactical techniques which varied on the control of the ball, specially with Facundo Pieres´ forward, and where Matias Magrini together with “Lolo” Castagnola, tried to cover their teammate Adolfo Cambiaso, who left the field after 5 minutes 12 seconds of the third chukker and came back at the start of the seventh chukker, due to an injury. Since Adolfito is a strong offense for La Dolfina, he could not perform his great hand-eye coordination, like at the beginning of the game. That is when Pablo Mac Donough and “Gonzalito” Pieres got strong, and opened the field for “Facu” who´s great ally was Matias Mac Donough.
Ellerstina demostrated to be in great condition to play in the Argentine Open, since it´s the most talented team, keeping in mind its phisycal technique, training, and their horses.
