Oak Brook, IL….On Sunday, August 24, Pinecroft will take on Villa del Lago in the high-goal Morgan Creek Cup at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds at 1 p.m. The Morgan Creek Cup is sponsored by Morgan Creek Farms of Yorkville, a founding member of the Chicago International Polo Club, host of the tournament.

At 3 p.m., Blue Stone Farm will play McFarlane-Douglass in the 6-goal Chicago International Polo League.

Both tournaments feature internationally ranked professional polo players competing alongside local players in fast-paced polo action.

“Lagunitas Day at Polo” will take place throughout the afternoon, with a special priced sampling of Lagunitas Beers from a California micro-brewery.

Tournament matches will be played at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds every Sunday through September 14.

Be sure to put polo in your Labor Day weekend plans. The finals of the Morgan Creek Cup will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 31, followed by the finals of the 6-goal Chicago International Polo League.

The Mercedes-Benz Concours d’Elegance is scheduled for Sunday, September 7, featuring a display, judging and parade of fine Mercedes Automobiles. The Rotary Clubs of Oak Brook/Hinsdale will host a fundraiser, “Polo Partners for Charity” on that Sunday, as well.

The popular Argentine-American Chamber Polo Cup, sponsored by the Argentine-American chamber of Commerce and the Consulate General of Argentina, will be held on closing Sunday, September 14. Tango Sur (a well-known Argentine restaurant in Chicago) will prepare an authentic Argentine asado (barbecue), and there will be other food, music and cultural entertainment.

Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the gate, are $10 adults; $5 senior citizens (65 and over); children age 12 and under and parking are free.

Dress is casual and spectators are welcome. Pack a picnic lunch or purchase lunch from the sizzling grill, bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an afternoon at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds.

Entrance to the Oak Brook Polo Grounds is at 31st Street and Polo Drive, one-half mile west of York Road in Oak Brook.
