GTP Polo preformed like a well-oiled machine in second round action Saturday, October 13, in the Grand Champions Polo Club’s Pedro Morrison Memorial Cup as they galloped past Palm Beach Equine 9-6.

After being shut out in the open period of the game, Marc Ganzi scored twice followed by a goal from teammate Francisco Escobar to take a 3-2 edge after two chukkers.

Brandon Phillips closed the scoring for GTP in the fifth chukker, leading Palm Beach Equine 8-5.

Carlucho Arellano scored the first of his five goals in the opening chukker, but was quickly answered by a goal from Aron Gracida. Arellano and Gene Goldstein came back in the second chukker with single goals as John Benitz’s lone score had Los Algarrobos trailing 3-2 after the first two chukkers.

The scoring in the final seven minutes of play were fast and furious.
Goals from Goldstein and Arellano seemed to put it out of reach before Vale Aguilar and Escobar each scored for Los Algarrobos. Goldstein scored again for Newport before Benitz’s fourth goal cut the lead to 10-9 Newport.
