Opening Day presented by Land Rover of San Diego
Sunday, June 1, 2014

The San Diego Polo Club (SDPC) kicks off its 28th season in Rancho Santa Fe on Sunday, June 1st with Opening Day presented by Land Rover of San Diego. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. for two action-packed matches at 1 and 3 pm where local and international polo players will compete in front of an estimated 2,500 spectators. At 2:30pm guests will enjoy a fashion show presented by stylist, Raina Leon, featuring fashion from local Del Mar boutique, Van de Vort. Join Riviera Magazine and DJ Here after the matches for the anticipated 7th Chukker After Party until 7pm.

Polo is presented to the public every Sunday from June 1 to September 28 with the exception of July 27, August 3 and August 10. Each Sunday, the SD Polo Club features two competitive matches, intermission entertainment, and a divot stomp– which is chance to stretch your legs and walk on to the polo field with a glass of champagne and stomp the divots that have been kicked up by the polo ponies. Each Sunday, the San Diego Polo Club partners with various groups, brands and charities, making each Sunday event unique.

Join in the excitement of Opening Day as ponies and players take to the main field at the San Diego Polo Club located at 14555 El Camino Real on the border of Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. SDPC has multiple ticket options, ranging from VIP to picnicking with your family. The VIP tent ($300-450/table of 10) is a center field grandstand that seats close to 300 guests and 500 on Opening Day. It’s an elevated, shaded area with wait staff for both food and beverage service. Garden Seating ($25) is a field-side reserved area with tables and umbrellas for shade. General admission ($12) is first come, first served with umbrella tables, cocktail tables and picnic tables. If you are interested in tailgating ($10pp) on the east side of the field, we encourage you to pack a picnic and enjoy the game from the tailgate of your car. Parking is $10 per car.

We have two full bars serving craft cocktails on draft, an assortment of spirits, local craft beer, hand selected wines, and of course, champagne! Anyone can access the bar and we take both cash and credit.

Our Sunday Polo Kitchen is presented by The Wild Thyme Company, offering plates to share or more traditional sandwiches, salads and daily specials. Their food is both classic and trendsetting while maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence with an emphasis on seasonal options.
