Piaget played an outstanding game today to defeat Lucchese, win first place in their bracket, and advance to the semifinals of the Piaget Silver Cup. Piaget, led by Melissa Ganzi, jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first chukker, with three goals that chukker from Jason Crowder, two from Lolo Castagnola, and one on handicap. Juan Curbelo got Lucchese on the board to start the second chukker, and Lucchese did close to within one at the end of the 5th chukker, but a penalty goal from Crowder put a stop to the comeback and Piaget would triumph 13-11. Crowder was high scorer of the game with 7 goals.

ERG and Audi started completely different lineups from last week for the game today, as Sebastian Merlos (ERG) and Gonzalito Pieres (Audi) had recently arrived in Santa Barbara following the close of the English season. The game was tight but low scoring. While both teams scored some outstanding goals, notably Paco de Narvaez on a 80 yard nearside backshot from the boards in the 3rd chukker, it took a while the teams to loosen up. The score was tied at 6 all going into the 6th chukker, but Gonzalito Pieres scored two goals within a minute to put Audi up for good, two more goals by Audi in the 6th chukker and one from Miguelito Torres of ERG made the final score 10-7 in favor of Audi.
Audi and Piaget won their brackets, and ERG and Lucchese still advance to the semifinals on Friday despite their losses today by virtue of second place rankings in their brackets.
