USPA PIAGET GOLD CUP GAME
LECHUZA CARACAS-LAS MONJITAS RAIN SUSPENDED

WELLINGTON, FL—Piaget Gold Cup Bracket play between Lechuza Caracas and Las Monjitas was suspended, due to rain, after three chukkers with Lechuza leading 6-3 at International Polo Club Palm Beach today.  Weather permitting the game will resume Sunday, March 22.

In addition to the Las Monjitas-Lechuza continuance, three Gold Cup bracket play games are also scheduled on March 22.  At 10 AM Audi plays Orchard Hill, 12 noon, Pony Express battles Zacara and at 3 PM on the International Field and Stadium White Birch faces undefeated Black Watch.  The Sunday action will determine who advances to the semifinals to be played Wednesday, March 25 and who moves on to the subsidiary Butler Handicap beginning Thursday March 26.  The finals of the Piaget Gold Cup and Butler Handicap will be played Sunday, March 29.

The USPA Gold Cup has been played since 1974 and 2009 marks the third year it for the tournament at International Polo Club Palm Beach.  This year the eight team field has been divided into two brackets.  First and second place from each bracket will cross play in the semi finals and the winners move to the Gold Cup Final on Sunday March 29.
