Tatanca polo team wins Dutch Polo Masters Gold Cup
Vreeland, 26 september 2008 – Last weekend the Dutch Polo Masters took place at Polo Club Vreeland. Many visitors enjoyed high level polo and fun besides the field. This normally quiet area of Vreeland was turned into a hot spot for polo players, polo fans, photographers, journalists and a lot of people who visited a polo game for the first time. The weekend was filled with spectacular matches, swinging beats, lovely weather, which all contributed to a very successful and unforgettable tournament. The Tatanca team, sponsored by Ralph Lauren Fragrance, finally won the Polo Masters Gold Cup 2008 after beating the Adrenalina team in en sensational final.

Polo sport in the spotlights
Dutch Polo Masters attracts a young and trendy audience, besides polo the event is also a social happening. Dutch Polo Masters is an open tournament; chic without arrogance. Kids had fun in the Kids VIP Lounge, while adults could do business, shop, eat and have drinks. But of course, the main focus remained on the sport. The matches attracted a lot of attention throughout the entire event. At the beginning of each match attention was attracted through loud music. Each team was introduced to the audience and than it was time to play polo. “Speakers were commenting on all the games and the audience was involved in the matches”, says Nick Groos number 2 of the winning Tatanca team. Dutch Polo Masters is initiated by Martijn van Scherpenzeel and his good friend Pascal Zantman. They both play for the Adrenalina team. “We are already looking forward to next year, visitors, players, grooms, sponsors and organization: everybody was very enthusiastic!”
International teams
Eight international teams with a total of 32 players all had the same goal, winning the Dutch Polo Masters Gold Cup. It was a handicap eight tournament, which means that a lot of pro’s and experienced players were present. Martijn van Scherpenzeel plays for the Adreanlina team, next to Martijn and Pascal two pro’s from Argentina play for this team; number 3 Micky Duggan and number 4 Joaquin Foster. Next year a new edition of Dutch Polo Masters takes place which will give Team Tantanca/Ralph Lauren a chance to defend their title.
