Is not a problem if you took the 6 teams here and did a check it would show experience pays off sometimes as La Herudura takes on Farmers and Merchants this will not be an Old timers game but close on the other hand they beat everyone else so they are in the finals Sunday at 1 P.M LH and the Gracidas who could not play together here for 20 years because both added to 20 goals now are with a Patron named Alvaro Fernandez and a young gun named Mariano Obergon he is there fire but Memo and Carlos have that style and if it does not get hot they will win they may beat anyone for four chukkars anyway they were only team of 6 to go undefeated through this and qualified on wins this team is close to 184 years of Polo and maybe playing most of them as they were playing just past diapers but no one could beat them the other bracket was not so a three team shootout at 6 pm settled that and after a very tough game the F & M gang came out and slapped around Restoration who just blew them out in last finals found them selves in a whole lot of trouble today and F&M won easy sending 3 teams to a shootout and then added there desert by beating ERG and RH quite quickly in a shoot out so it will be a rematch as LH beat F&M last week @ Piocho on a big field can they do it again we shall see as F&M are a little younger but older on one end @ about 170 or so also lots of Polo experience Dan Walker will be the oldest man on the field but I bet you will never know it he will go as fast as his horse can run and he will hit a man hard as anyone on the field It will be a very tough game and a great finals . Silver does mean 50 I believe .
Today’s games : Seen in the 10 am ERG looking for a chance for a shootout and they got a huge win over Catamount as Sugar knocked in 10 and had all kinds of help it was a good win for the Orange and white Kirsti Allen filling in for Mr Woods did a very good job and the boys clicked all day and Catamount well they did not have there best day . Game 2 was La Heredura taking on Lucchese in a battle to get a chance to put LH down from there throne I left after 4 and it was 9 to 4 and did not look promising to skip lunch for it but I heard thy came back hard and lost by a goal they miss AC I would say . GAME 3 well it was a big one Restoration formerly Mansour looked to dominate on the big field at ERG but it never happened as F&M never even doubted they could win and it took 6 minutes for first goal but it happened and it was F&M up by 1 at the end of 1 and they never trailed the rest of the game and at the end pulled away setting the scene for a shootout at Sundown and again it was between F&M, ERG and RH and it was over early as F&M took the first 5 and closed the door for the second time on a cool sunny afternoon at ERG pvt. field . Santa Barbara must be the best place in the World to be this time of the year but yet we only have 6 teams WHY some will say better than last year but that was really bad we have 11 fields here now for practice and tournaments and some of the best outside fields anywhere . So I am not sure what we need to do but I believe if we just made a country wide 20 to 22 goal limit and teams could stay together and use 2 Americans on ever team in 5 years we might compete with Eng and Sotogrande as a place to be for 6 to 8 weeks starting mid July. The USPA could make it happen as US Polo could travel East to West ever year teams could mesh and jobs and organizations could unite and not only that California could become a destination year around as the Desert as in Empire and El Dorado could be a winter wonderland at 40% the price of Fl. and teams already this way such as Lucchese and ERG, Zacara and Mansour could make it a short trip ever Spring and Fall as it is only 1200 miles to Dallas and add 200 to Houston. Empire Polo is already in the World of IPC if not better and with Combo and ELD. sold may really get a facelift and it adds up to over 20 fields in less than 3 miles and that is just because you have to go around the block or 2 .
I believe SB should be the biggest venue in North America ever late summer and Indio could be the West coast Capital and compete with Fl. for Winter Polo they have 10 times more to offer beach skiing hiking ballooning hunting mountains and an Ocean 2 hours away + Disneyland , Six flags the Aquarium a 100 golf courses and 10,000 tennis courts + it is warm and the Snow is 40 minutes away. Here is a sample a full team can play at Empire Polo for one month for 24 grand all in entry fees, club fees Green fees ambulance and Umpires all in and guaranteed two tournament games a week + practice .
