Are you new to polo or desire a deeper understanding of the rules and of the game itself? Have you ever wanted to learn to umpire a polo game? Do you want to become a USPA certified umpire? If so, from beginners to advanced players this clinic is for you! Steve Lane, is one of the most experienced polo umpires and teachers in the world as well as the head umpire instructor with the Polo Training Foundation. Steve’s seminar will be covering both arena and outdoor rules and further content will be forthcoming. Join us and learn from the best!!!!
Steve Lane joined the PTF full-time in May 2006. Since he was big enough to wield a mallet Steve has been involved with polo and has been professionally involved with umpiring and umpire training since 1993. As an internationally recognized trainer of polo umpires he brings his expertise at clinic instruction to the PTF overseeing the organization in all aspects of umpire training. Steve has umpired many high goal tournaments including four US Opens and four Pacific Coast Opens. Steve is a recipient of the Carlton Beal National Umpire of the Year Award, and a two-time winner of the Carlton Beal Eastern Regional Umpire of the Year Award.
Sponsored and hosted by the California Polo Club the clinic includes classroom and mounted instruction in the arena over a 2 day period but you can come for as much of it as you like. This would be a good learning experience as well for a spouse, friend or partner to attend with you and better understand the sport that we love. It is not required that an attendee to participates in the equestrian portion of the clinic.
For mounted sessions, you can use your own horses, or rent them. If you don’t have horses or choose not to rent horses, you still can participate, observe and learn. For horse rental information contact Max Duarte at californiapoloclub@gmail.

11:00AM: Blended (Intermediate/Club) Chukkas – mounted instruction and Umpire Certification
12:30PM: Wrap up by Steve Lane & BBQ (free to participants / a $10 donation for participant’s guests will be appreciated)

CPC Members $150 per person
