The Grand Champions Polo Club will be opening up their 2015 Fall Season on Friday, October 2nd with four teams competing in the 12-goal Tackeria Invitational.

The opening game of the autumn season is scheduled for 3pm and will feature Audi (Santos Bollini, Marc Ganzi, Luis Escobar and Juan Bollini) and Dutta Corp. (Timmy Dutta, Tim Dutta, Carlitos Gracida and Nic Roldan).  The 3pm contest will mark the return of former 8-goaler Luis Escobar to the field for his first match since suffering a serious fall on the opening day of the 20-goal Ylvisaker Cup at the International Polo Club.

“We’re ,thrilled to have Luis playing with us,” said Grand Champions Polo Club president Melissa Ganzi., “and excited that he will be playing his first game back with us here in Wellington.

A 5pm match between Casablanca (Grant Ganzi, Wes Finlayson, J.J. Celis and Julio Ezcurra) and Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Brandon Phillips, Guille Aguero and Leo Mandelbaum) will close out the day, setting up the tournament final for Sunday, October 4th.

Sunday games will be played at 10am and noon. Because of a scheduling conflict, Audi will play at noon, regardless of its record.

The Tackeria Invitational is the first of a nine-week tournament season that will present six medium goal tournaments and culminate with the 20-goal USPA North American Cup, the USPA National Twenty Goal and the International Cup. The International Cup will be preceded by the Carlos Gracida Legends of Polo Memorial, fielding some of the greats of the game.
