It was a great day at the PCO championships a little warm and unusually humid but it was a big one for ERG as they jumped all over Lucchese which has not happened for a while about a 1000 days actually as they were going for a four-peat never even been anyone close to this in over 103 years . The big difference was a name and a body I guess . I was coaching the winning team ERG but I have been to the finals against John Muse the last two years with Piaget and Grants Farm and came out in second place both times. So it felt good to finally get by them but it is sort of a rubber feeling as they did not have Adolpho Cambiaso . It was a very tough game early but came to not so exciting later as ERG went up 3 to 1 in the first 3 to 3 in the second and 3 to 2 in the 3rd making it ERG by 9 to 6 this is when you always worry a 3 goal lead is good but very dangerous , players seem to relax and get a little unfocused and more often lose than win. So the second 1/2 is 0 to 0 and at the end is 1 to 1 with ERG still up by 3 the fourth gave the edge again to ERG and well the 6 th was just a party coming up as ERG smoked 4 goals early to nail the coffin shut. I seen a lot of things and people over the last 30 years and I have to say we had a team that is 60 % pysco and 40 on the line Sugar is Sugar amazing going forward and never looks like a 6 goal player on his worst day Jeff Blake is normal and was always the ingredient that kept us more or less balanced and then there is Francisco De Naravez he was the leader and he is probably the most complicated player I have ever met . He has a mind of Einstein and a attention span of 3 minutes but when he is focused is so very good but the focus is scary you just never know when it happens in the semis he was 4 chukkars in the wind and 2 a monster on the pitch and we won coming from 4 behind today he was on board for 6 and they had the problem a big one as he went on to be MVP of game and walked away with a big smile . He hit bombs today from 120 to 12 foot but they all went in . It was avery even game except for the score throw inns were equal at 16 ea. knock inns were 7 to 6 so ERG actually missed more, penalty’s were close at 11 to 7 only 5 open goals and no 60’s . Jeff Blake was amazing again today as he may be close to the record of PCO’s won over the years he has a very calming effect on other players and will always make it work and he was also voted PRO OF THE YEAR BY MRS. BOB SKEEN her name is Elizabeth and has seen more polo than 90 % of the people alive. As the curtain closes on 2013 High Goal Sassoon we look forward to 14 as a new one with 8 to 10 teams which will make it magical here for 6 weeks. Scott Wood is now the Texan Boss as he should be capturing Dallas in a big way . Both Patrons had a very good day but SW may have had an edge . He was HUNGRY he has been here 3 times before and maybe was a little to relaxed . Polo continues here as well in the 8 goal and Party Town Del Mar is all lit up so there is some where to go wherever you are .
