Eldorado was a mix and match, but there were plenty of young guns in the deal called the “finals” of February.  There was only one league where it was dominant by age and the 12-goal probably paid a big part in it. We will start at the top in the 12-goal finals.  It was one young gun of 8 and his name is Clemente Zavaleta.  He was the only one on the field under the age of 40.  No that’s not true,  Matt Walker is 30 ish, but it was a war with the lead changing often.  Both teams were playing their last game of the season as they are leaving, so no saving for next month. Mr. Palmer and Antelope seemed to have had it in hand at times, but not for long Palm Desert kept coming back for more.  Dan Horn is not willing to say sorry, yet in the end it was overtime and the Palm Desert crew just had that final whistle on their minds and did not let it slip.  They went hard and far to make Mr. Dan a happy man.  Both Patrons were very much in the game and were a big part of the final being so gooooooooood.  The field was good, the crowd big and it was a beautiful day in the Desert.

The 8-goal is a place where you need an ID as nobody with the exception of two people in that league can hardly drive. One team is called the Hawks. They are from Canada and they are in the control part of Mannix Int. at the moment. Hawks are known to soar, see their prey and go get them. Well it was an Older Hawk directing the flock and he did it well.  Smokin’ Joe Henderson, who I call Gramps, sent his brood to feast on the house built by Dudley (CasaBlanca), who also had an old rooster with a brood. Mr. Hawk (Joe Henderson) and Carlos Galindo (The Rooster) are just barely under the age of their three teammates combined.  Their game was tied at 1/2 time and it did not change much through out as CasaBlanca showed constant pressure.  They had a Young Gun out of Poway, a Sheldon student I am sure, and the Flying Galindo’s,  but the Hawks with their herd of teenagers soared a little higher.  Young Uretz, Patrick and Jesse Bray along with “Boss Man” Julian Mannix just let them soar.  It was a dynamite game as the Hawks are the 2009 Champs of the Eldordo 8-Goal League.

In the 4-goal it was a hard-riding Colorado Cowboys set on taking Canada + 1 out and they did.  Youth was again a factor as Valiente, led by young Robert Jornayvaz.  The Colorado Cowboy and his band take the old fellers from Canada to the southern Rockies to show them what’s higher.  It was a very good game as Jake and Kyle tried all day, but it was a war and a big effort by Reggie White and Hayward Pardu was not enough for this band of outlaws led by 24 year old Zenon and Alfredo Barbuchi about 18.   The Colo Cowboy and young Patrick Uretz, who was the biggest winner of the day taking home two Rich Roenisch Bronzes (4-goal and 8-goal finals).  He had a little help from the 12 -goal strings as he does not have his own. Both the Hawks and Valiente had lost out in 12-goal, so he had a good deal of help from the big strings and it showed.  Horses are the biggest part of the game, even with young drivers.

It was a great day and hats off to the new Board of Directors.  Things are changing and its good to see some smiling faces. The first 8 days of March are dark for everyone except the Henry Trione Seniors and the Women.  They are about to invade the desert as they always follow the old rich  . . . guys.  Just kidding!

Down south it was another Mannix named Frederick winning the 1 st round of the 26-goal CV Whitney at IPC.  Go good luck to him as well.  Frederick plays with Audi Polo

See ya.
