It is down to the final 8 teams who now head the the Quarter Finals of the U.S. Open at IPC. It looks like show time ahead as two big winners in the last two qualifing macthes were Lechuza Caracas, who out dueled the masters, as they upset Pony Express on a cool, windy and rainy day in Wellington, FL.

Just when it looked like Lechuza could get off to a rocket start, Mr. Bob Daniels, Patron of Pony Express, did what no one, I mean no one, expected. He stopped 4 goal opportunities. In the first chukker with pinpoint backshots Bob Daniels was taking out Lechuza and giving his players the ball. He was a big reason for the score at 1/2 time, but it was not enough.

A well guided organization by Steven Scott and an excellent staff got the horses right and here came the big guns of Lechuza Caracas. Lechuza dominated the second 1/2 of the game with bold runs by Pite Merlos and outstanding play by Mr. Vargas on scoring and taking 8-goal Pancho Bensedon out of many plays. Lechuza went on for a win by several to head to a showdown with nothing but speed in the squad of Jedi where the oldest is about 23. They do play polo the old-fashioned way as they hit it and run to it. It should be a dandy in the other qualifier.

It was Crab Orchard picking a fight with Skeeterville, the first team to beat them in a longtime even though they were without their Bullet Mr. Skeeter Johnston, who recently was injured and died from a polo crash. It was another super organized effort by Adolfo Cambiaso to take it away in the 4th and ride home alone with the Victory. He has defending champs Los Monjitas on board this weekend in the quarters along with some other big ones.

Orchard Hill grabs the ropes and heads to a war with the Texans of San Saba. To finish it all its Millarville taking on a very mad White Birch who is looking for a big kill after a couple of near misses this winter. It should be polo at its best in the USA come Sat. & Sun. so put on your best and see them at their best. See ya.
