Polo has been a bit confused the last few years it is sort of like the stock market the price of gas goes crazy because it supposed to be hard to come by as prices go up less driving but at the same time Chevron- Exxon make more money than ever made in a year in profits . Banks say they are broke but officers make more money than ever but shareholders lose or verily see a rise. Polo is the same very few teams playing in the organized low and medium goal Polo but High Goal Polo grows good horses cost more than ever before others can not be sold. People adjust and continue to play for the most part but the lower levels seem to be getting less and less for competition and enjoyment to the Players and the high goal seems to be fixing and taking the sport out of the good polo . Maybe Gonzalo Pieres has came up with a solution to stop that for a while but what can we do to rejuvenate the other areas of Polo.
After a bit of Desert Polo and it seemed pretty competitive and looked to be a little more energized than last year both Empire and Eldorado showing much better crowd support now stuck with Horse Herpes much the same as Palm Beach a couple years ago and will most likely put the brakes on all Polo in Desert area until after the Super Bowl which will be a hardship on most involved in an already tough time. After 10 days in Palm Beach one West Coast Boy is still standing as Santi Torres made it to the finals of first 20 goal in IPC Polo club this Sunday playing with the newest 10 goal player in America named Pelon (David ) Sterling on Luchesse team. It seems like Polo has taken a step back at the high level where taking a man is not part of the game for most teams it has become Ball and then Man with the exception of Coca Cola team which is also in the finals it remains to be seen which style works Luc. does have Sant who is well trained in taking the man but they have super Ball control with Pelon but Sugar young Wroe and Julio along with their Leader Jillian Johnston all take the man very very well so it will be seen soon what works. All this will be on Sunday afternoon . Also would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Good Friend BRIAN MURPHY who was one of the most colorful Players I ever knew and a very good guy and friend.
There will be very limited motion in the Desert this weekend but will try to let you know what is going on asap.
