The gold coast just got a whole lot brighter. June gloom is gone and the sun is shining. There is a westward movement as the Ganzi’s, Kampsen, Blake from Florida, Scott Woods from Texas and John Muse are all here in Santa Barbara, CA or on their wa.y Big Bob is headed south from Colorado and Lyndon Lea, Carlos Gracida and Adolfo Cambiaso will be crossing the pond soon from the UK.  From the south (Argentina) comes Paco De Narvaez, Toto Collardin and many others.  They are all glad they are not going to Germany a take off on World Cup where they will soon reimpose the foreign rule in many countries like France and Italy and probably the UK.

Just to change the subject a little, the new rule in U.S. Polo is two Americans on any team. Football/soccer use to have this rule and that is where idea came from when it got so big it was a cash cow.  It was dropped, I am sure from pressure of TV contracts and fans.   It was a big business and is getting bigger.  Young men of their home countries were never invited, so they had no reason to continue the sport. Now countries like Italy, France and many others are looking at 35-year old players for national teams. While Mexico, who has a foreign policy and Argentina who probably hires no pros, are looking good in the future. As for the U.S. I think it should be the same. We have 20 million kids playing Jr. soccer and 10 thousand at the college level. I think in Polo it will take 3 years, but now that young players can get exposed it will happen here as well if the USPA can keep it going that long.

On West coast Polo it is time for the sound of big time hoofs hitting the ground as many pros spend as much on 1 horse as the entire string of many CA Patron. The Patrons horses may pay for the Polo for 3 years, but it is life and at least we get to see them because no matter what they do not make a better place to be than the CA coast in the summer. Not only do you have a beautiful club and decent fields, but the awesome places around it. Pat Nesbitt’s Bella Vista Polo Club which is the home of Valiente Polo Team.   Piocho Ranch is home of Piocho Ranch Polo, Villa Polo home of ERG/ Scott Woods which is Texas-style  …big and fancy.  Have a look.  It is for sale http://www.villapolo.com. You can not get a better location or a place to hang your hat.  It is located about 1 inch from the Santa Barbara Polo Club. Look it up … its magic in the mountains of the gold coast. Soon to be the best in the world and it is a secret, so I will tell you next year. Come on over and see those ponies run @ Santa Barbara Polo Club.  If you’re down south take a break from whatever and go to San Diego .  They offer Polo 3 minutes from the Surf and Del Mar Race track.   While it may not be the best polo, but it will be the best time since you were a senior in college. http://www.sandiegopolo.com
