Women’s Championship Tournament is Most Prestigious Women’s Title in the World

ATHERTON, CALIF., May 23, 2010 – The Menlo Polo Club today announced that its second US Polo Association (USPA) sanctioned Ladies Cup, scheduled for May 28th, is also an entry level qualifier tournament for the Women’s Championship Tournament (WCT) – the most prestigious tournament title in women’s polo today as well as the largest women’s tournament series in the world.
“Women in polo represent the largest growing sector in the sport, now accounting for thirty percent of the USPA’s registered members,” said Lyn Jason Cobb, president of the Menlo Polo Club.  “As our own club membership reflects this trend, it makes sense for us to finally have a USPA sanctioned tournament that is also a WCT entry level qualifier for our up and coming women players.”
The tournament will be played at The Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane, Atherton, California on May 28th.  Opening ceremonies will begin at 11:00am and last match is estimated to end at 4:00pm.  Admission is $10 with limited bleacher seating on the West side of the field.  Spectators are encouraged to bring comfortable chairs. Parking available at nearby Sacred Heart Schools.
“We are so grateful for the support from our generous sponsors including CB Polo, Cheval Polo, Coldwell Banker, Four Seasons Silicon Valley, Tesla Motors and many more. We are looking forward to a stellar tournament!” said Cobb.
