It was a wild and wet day at Santa Barbara Polo Club on Friday the 4th.  There was rain early and many storms in the middle before the sun finally shined at about 5:45 pm.  It was cool off the field and the games were delayed an hour due to rain.

It was a slugout between Grants Farm/Klentner Ranch and Duende, the defending PCO champs.  I goes down in history as a win for Grant’s Farm as they survived a wild comeback by the big sticks of Duende in the final 2 chukkers.  Brilliant play by Jeff Blake kept the heat on the big sticks of DD.

In the 2nd game it was a close, but unattractive game with much sloppy play. Mansour after scoring the first 2 goals in the last 4 chukkers only needed the first one in sudden death and they got it. Sugar Erskine came to life today and was very impressive for Windsor.  In the last game of the day it was hard to tell who was really playing.  It started with Antelope/Long Beach which had Geoff Palmer, Pancho Bensadon, Luis Escobar and Dan Walker.  It ended with only 3 players Santi Torres, Dan Walker and Luis.  So 2 of 4 were in the game.   Jimmy Choo started with Lynden Lee, Nick Roldan, Brandon Phillips and Ruki Bealiu. They ended with Brandon, Ruki and Carlos Nash. All was not well Jimmy Choo was up by 3 and Pancho Bensadon went down.  Ruled out was Roldan.  Then Geoff Palmer was replaced by by Santi Torres.  Then Lynden was hurt and replaced by Nash and it all ended with some very tired players and horses.  Antelope lost their second game and Jimmy choo is 1 & 0. Audi had the day off, so now its like this :

Grants Farm 1 & 0

Duende 0 & 1

Jimmy Choo 1 & 0

Antelope 0 & 2

Windsor 0 & 1

Mansour 1 & 0

Audi 1 & 0
