All quiet on the Western front

So far, so good. All horses in the quarantine zone and the surrounding areas are
looking good. Let’s hope it stays that way for another week. Speaking of that
matter, I need to clarify the quarantine schedule as everyone seems to have
different ideas of when it ends. The quarantine was placed on February 9th by the
State Veterinarian for the Department of Food and Agriculture. The quarantine
period is 14 days from that date – so it ends on the 23rd. We have no control over
this and only the State can release the quarantine. If all stays quiet, we are looking
at next Tuesday for the release date.

We are having some issues with shipping horses out of state from our general area.
We had one horse shipped to Colorado and this horse was identified to the State
Veterinarian there and is being isolated and watched. The owners have been totally
cooperative. Similar situations happened with some horses going to Texas.
Florida officials have voiced to us that they are not interested in horses being
shipped there until the quarantine ends. Again, we have no controls over these
decisions as they are strictly up to the Regulatory officials in each destination state.
Hope this helps. Hang in there.
