Dorrie Forstmann:

July 23, 1947 – January 15, 2015

DOC205Dorrie, who was born in England, moved to the United States in 1954 with her Mother, Father and Sister.

In her early 20’s, before raising her family, she was a well-known actress, starring in numerous shows including Operation Petticoat, Wonder Woman, Banacek, It Takes a Thief.   She also appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and the Bob Hope Show.

In 1985 Dorrie was introduced to polo at LAEC in Burbank CA.  Though she loved most sports including skiing, water skiing and scuba diving, once she got into polo, it became her passion.  Dorrie became one of the top female players and patrons in the country.   Her Risky Business team played in everything from the 6 goal Governors Cup to 20 goal matches.

In the 1980’s Piaget asked her to join their Chukkers for Charity polo team along with fellow celebrities Bill Devane, Doug Sheehan, Alex Cord. Stefanie Powers and Pamela Sue Martin they raised millions of dollars for charities.

In 2002, Dorrie had a catastrophic accident and was no longer able to walk. Her strength and willpower were an inspiration to all as she adjusted to her new life. She was still a regular at polo in the Desert and had many friends all over the world.

Dorrie is survived by: her three sons, Kevin, Baron, and Luke, sister Annie, brother Marty and granddaughter Allegra. They will all miss her terribly.

She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eldorado Polo Club clubhouse on January 20th at 4:00 PM.    Everyone is invited.
