The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

. . . of World Champs?  It is a rerun of 2008 with one difference . . . both teams are perfect (40-Goals) with all players rated10 goals. This is the first time that two 40-goal teams have made it to the finals.  It will be Granddaddy of them all.  Argentina is the only place two 40-goal teams could play each other for real anyway.

One team La Dolfina has 23 Open victories between them and an average age of 36.5 years in age.  The team other has 4 trophies, all from last year, and an average 25.7 years of age.  There is a decade of age difference between these two teams, but if you look at the NFL, the US football league, it may not be so bad. Bret Farve is 40 yrs., Curt Warner 38, Drew Brees 35 and they do not have a horse to run for them. So maybe there is one more time in it all. We shall see this Saturday afternoon.

Last year Ellerstina came of age and circled the Globe as the best team and they have stayed there except for one small glitch. That, however, did prove they are not unstoppable and that maybe all Mr. Magnificent, Adolfo Cambiaso, needed to know.  He has not beat them yet at 40 goals, but he has not said goodbye yet either. It should be a thriller. These two teams have met once this season and Ellerstina came out way above, but it was not for the Title that time. This time it is. There is a lot of history here in between the lines.  The Icon of modern day Polo Gonzalo Pieres Sr. is the father of Facundo and Gonzalo the uncle of Pablo on Ellerstina and the Father in law of Mariano of La Dolfina. I think won the first Opens for Mariano and Adolfo as players on his team in the 90’s where G. Pieres, Sr. was the Master of the decade. So if you are in Argentina or in the Southern hemisphere, Buenos Aires, Argentina is the place to be come Sat. afternoon. May all be happy and healthy on and off the field. Go watch those ponies

Who do you think will win?

See ya.
