The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

It was gray at 6 am and it was still gray at 3 pm, but the fields were fine.  The crowds were not here on this cold and gray day, but polo started at 10 am and it was the only good game of the day . Hawk Hill defeated Farmers and Merchant in the last 2 chukkars to go to 1 and 0. They had a great performance from patron Phillip Mataggart, with some outstanding back shots throughout the game. Young Charlie Walker played his first 12-goal game and did well.He will get better every game as he gets fit, but F&M missed the David today.

The one o’clock was as the 3 o’clock game was,  basically wipe outs. Ar 1 pm it was the big boys Andy and Ryan showing their power and the speed of Josey (Joseph Stuart) making it a rout on Silent Chris’ first trip here with Twin Palms. They will get better and have a new player at #1 which will help, but GF/WC will also get better and hopefully not bigger. They rode off to a convincing win. The 3 PM was much the same.  Antelope, without high-scoring Patron Geof Palmer, did just fine as he was replaced by Mrs. Carol Lessine.  She was plenty to do the job as they rolled all over Klentner Ranch in the final match of the day.

It was a great day for the horses, cool and dry. Not so good for the vendors as the sun peeked out about 4 pm for a while but it is time for May Gray. Friday’s make up games will be Tues. and Wed., so check the website for schedules. The third round is on Friday with a Sunday finals for the Pope Challenge.

The UK high-goal season starts on Tuesday. Houston is going as soon as the rain goes away.  WILL ROGERS is moving forward as well.  I think all was well @ the Villages, Ocala and Grand Champions in West Palm Beach, so check out Alex Webbe’s blog as he will know what happened.

see ya Friday and if not Sunday @ the finals.
