The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

… for little reason, but just amazing moments that last. They may last 15 minutes, but will never be forgotten.
Today was a perfect example of why we play the game. It happened in Indio, CA at 2.30 p.m. A lot of rain came in and we needed it.  Here is the idea … about 10 games in 20 years have been cancelled in Indio due to rain in the last 10 years.  Today was one of those days. The fields took in about 2 inches of rain the last 36 hours.

Due to field conditions and not wanting to tear them up, the two teams went in today with a chance to make the finals like tomorrow. Teams change in Feb. as some players leave on Monday and it needs to end tomorrow, which is Sunday. So it was decided that in order to break the tie there would be 1 chukkar if tied at the end and another sudden death chukkar. If tied again a shootout an for a while it looked to go the whole route. The Casa Sombres/Mercari and General Lee took the lead and moved out in front with just over 1 minute to play in the 1 chukkar part, but with less than a minute it was Garlock/Zigler team Parklane that tied it again sending it into the overtime chukkar. A couple of wide 60’s by Parklane kept the door open for Casa/Mercari and a great 4 minutes of determined polo came to an end as the only teenager on the field and Lady teamed up to send Casa/Mercari into the finals where they have to deal with Bankers of Menlo led by the Cobb Ladies Lyn and Madelyn. It all happens at high noon at the Spectacular Empire Polo # 1 grounds. It was a very exciting 15 minutes and a lot of energy on the field which did hold up very well, so with a little Sun in the morning it should be a very fast pair of finals Sunday.

See you @ the finals at the Fabulous Forum of EMPIRE POLO CLUB 12 an 2PM .

Down South the Marc Ganzi led Audi takes On Crab Orchard and Georg Rawlings and it will be smash mouth power as both squads have so much muscle something has to give so stay tuned will let you know as soon as we know.
