Steven Garfield III

DENVILLE, N.J., July 5, 2011 – Steven Garfield, nationally ranked polo player and owner of January Farm in Hunterdon County, recently umpired the professional charity polo match at the Alzheimer’s Association Polo Classic 2011, which was held June 18, 2011, at the Hillsborough Country Club in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Garfield also has become involved with the Alzheimer’s Association by organizing the competition match and recruiting the professional players for the teams for the annual Polo Classic, which, in its 24th year, is the state’s original charity polo event.

Steven’s continued involvement in the Polo Classic.” Garfield raises and trains polo ponies with his wife Judith at their January Farm (www.januaryfarm.com), and offers professional, individualized instruction for riders of all experience and skill levels. Their farm contains a practice polo field and fully trained polo ponies for riders of all levels. A foxhunter, Garfield offers on his farm a hunt training course and hundreds of miles of trails. World class foxhounds are supplied by Amwell
Valley Hounds and Essex Fox Hounds. He also is a member of the Tinicum Park Polo Club and the United States Polo Association.

The annual Alzheimer’s Association Polo Classic, founded in 1987, is New Jersey’s original charity polo event and features world-class polo players and ponies competing on a tent-lined field before thousands of attendees. Proceeds help benefit the programs and services the Association provides to the estimated 350,000 New Jersey individuals and their care partners who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
