The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

Spring time is here. The flowers are blooming and the grass is growing (not so fast in some places) as there is still a little snow up north in a few areas. Houston is booming and California is about to restart for the Spring season in San Diego and Santa Barbara. Will Rogers is open and moving first this Spring as usual. There is a new man at the helm, Andrew Bossom.  He has united Will Rogers and LA Equestrian Center and has the very efficient Felicia on the move.  We may see a huge move from the Village of Los Angeles as this has been very much needed with only California Polo Club and Rodney carrying the load. Maybe we will see something happen in Los Angeles again. They say there are 30 million people in the surrounding area. Pro football cannot make it, but maybe polo can. It is a perfect fit for Hollywood. Andrew has brought in a very qualified instructor to step up the training of new players … Topo Mendez.  He is a well-known player in the area. Good Luck Andrew and thanks to Anza Bossom and Karen at the Griffin Park horse center for helping the Zacara Horses 12 find a home for the night when a Zacara’s truck broke down in Los Angeles while returning from winning the 2013 US Open. That was fantastic and it was about 11 pm at night on a Saturday night to boot. Thanks again.

I watched the Open finals on TV today for about 1/2 of it as that was all there was if you watched.  If you time it from the start of every chukker. It was very sad to see they did not exactly get people who were trained to shoot Polo or train them to do it for the game. I am not sure many people will figure out the game from this kind of show. I did think Brandon Phillips did as good a job as possible to help people understand the game,  but a few replays might have been a big help for him to relay info. The Camera man was much too close and often lost. The game was good as we already knew the outcome,  but it was really 2 against 2 and the 2 10 goaler’s lost to 18 goals.  I know there were 8 people in game, but it was not very often you that you would see Mike, Santi, Bob and Lyndon.  It did look like Magoo was amazing and did open the door for Facundo many times. I guess it is a start,  but I’m not sure they got their money’s worth. I have seen much better coverage by Blue Tuna. I think it is called running through computer to TV. What is your Opinion? I think idea is ok, but on a network like this I’m not sure what it draws,  but it is sure not close to major exposure.  Who did they reach?  They did get to see Facundo’s mare.  I think it was a brown mare with 223 on left hip that received a lot more than other 4 players at the end of several chukkars.

I need several Grooms around the Country. If you are a groom,  legal and can drive a truck (you do not need cdl) just knowledge of doing it I have work for you.  We can use help asap on the East Coast. North West they need about 4  who also have to be legal to get into Canada and someone for Spokane.  We also need a couple of 2 goal players with horses and trucks who can come together as well call me or email .
