Team eCRT wins the Berenberg Snow Polo tournament title for the second year.
Team eCRT achieved an exciting victory in the 2009 5th Berenberg Snow Polo tournament, on Sunday 25 January, winning this prestigious international event for the second successive year, defeating Berenberg team 7-6 .
In the subsidiary Hackett defeated team Parmigiani 7-5
The Berenberg Snow Polo tournament attracted four teams with players from six countries (Argentina, Britain, Canada, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland), including the only lady in the tournament, Clare Milford Haven, who formed the Hackett team with her husband George and Charles Beresford.
Although play was cancelled on Friday due to a heavy snow storm, overall the tournament took place in perfect snow conditions, enhanced by the spectacular setting of one of Switzerland’s most scenic Alpine resorts. A record 5000 spectators attended the four-day tournament, attracted by the participation of some of the world’s top polo players and reflecting the growing public interest in this oldest and fastest team sport.
In addition to the field action the 5th Berenberg Snow-Polo also provided top attractions off the field, including the traditional Players’ Night and the ever-popular Jack & Daniels Party. Thursday and Friday saw live shows by the “Queensberrry” girl band from Germany and the “Hot Banditoz”. Saturday and Sunday highlights featured “Die Jungen Zillertaller” trio from Austria; and Ken Hensley, formerly of legendary British band “Uriah Heep”
