In a fantastic story of our times and it even made the front page of nearly every news producing Paper in the World itself unusual as usually it is some garbage of a movie star or a rich man or athlete doing something he was not supposed to. It seems that Chile kind of the shoe of South America might just be a very big place and quite impressive in other ways than Polo, where they have often been very competitive and champs in World Cup polo even hosting it a ways back where Polo people were quite impressed. My knowledge of Chile came mainly from a deceased Gentleman, Polo player Gabriel Donoso he came from Chile. He was quite a Polo Player 8 goals a very nice Person and known as a First Class Gentleman around the World. It had a horrible reputation as a human rights nightmare and a bit backwards. However this summer they had a 8 point Earthquake much in a heavy populated areas and had huge damage but handled it without nearly the loss of life as much smaller EQ have done in recent years and I was talking to an engineer who had been there just a year ago and his words were they build things very well their and are very educated as a work force it seems he was right . The last thing is this is Amazing how the country gathered so fast once Miners were known to be alive and even before how they worked to find them don’t bet on that service from our Govt. just ask Katrina victims even though much bigger can you imagine our leaders down their for days supporting the rescue especially without 24 hour camera service even though both situations were results of Govt. miscues. I think it was one of the greatest stories in years. No matter what, it is a hell of a feat and shows what can happen when people pull together .

On the Polo scene it is judgment day like tomorrow for many of the Polo People as Handicaps are set for next 6 months, making or breaking many careers for the year and it is always one or the other very happy or very unhappy. The judgment men are like umpires not always friends after this but worse they do not even get paid and they pay their own way to do it so it is not like they are gaining anything except satisfaction of helping the sport . Down South it is Elerstina in the finals of the first of the triple Crown where they meet Chapo 2 on Sat. Next week Alegria and Canada’s best Polo player Fred Mannix 2 take on the big boys in the Hurlingham Polo Tournament the second of the Triple Crown . FM1 better have that Jet ready this team is going to give em hell even if it is just a qualifier I think.
