Exhibition Polo Match at the inaugural Chicks for Charity Polo Match on Saturday, July 22, 2006 in Leelanau Peninsula on Suttons Bay near Traverse City, MI. A group of professional women in the area, led by Pamela Leonard, owner of the Vineyard Inn, a gorgeous and romantic inn right on the bay, and Crooked Creek Ranch, a turn-of-the-century Victorian farm with water, have decided to stage this event to help begin the development of an equestrian surgical facility in the area.
The polo match will be on Saturday, July 22nd at 3:00 pm with a big BARN DANCE to be held that evening. Bring your dancing’ boots! The players tentatively are: For the Grand Rapids area Kentree Polo Club, Les Johnson, Paul Knapp, Cathy Johnson and Sarah Mathei. For the Detroit Polo Club, Chester Regula Jr., Christian Tennant, Marciel Torrejes and Danielle Kuper. The teams may be ‘mix & matched’ to make for a balanced match. Jerry Hutcheson of DPC will be the announcer/commentator for the event.
The “Chicks” are hoping to have a good crowd as there are numerous great events & attractions being held in the immediate area – the International Cherry Festival, vineyard tours, beaches, golf courses, etc. etc. Additionally, a major equestrian event is being staged adjacent to the polo area. The “Horse Show By The Bay” featuring Show Jumping Gran Prix, Dressage, Hunter Classics, etc. will be right in the middle of their three week run and horse people from all over the US, celebrities, etc., will be on hand.
Check out the website of our host, Pamela Leonard – www.VinInn.com . I will need to know ASAP the number of people coming with your team, when you are going up and an approximate number of horses. Pamela is arranging our team accommodations and stabling for the horses. Please get this information to me by return email if possible. Looking forward to a fun time, great weather and sharing the beautiful scenery with nice people! Best regards,
Jerry Hutcheson
