The JAN. ’08 is not strong, but it will be fun and a run for a bronze. If you want to play in the 12-goal and you are a 0 goal patron we have a winning combo at a very good price. You can pick your position because it will be a “run and gun” team. We also will make you a deal . . . if this team do not make the finals we will deduct. So what do you want? Its just a Christmas Present! Call 805 896 4406 if you are interested.
Around the World in Polo . . .
In Argentina there are3 new 10’s and one 10 went down. Its a + 2 as Lucas Monteverde and Pablo Mac Donough both in the finals made it to the top. Nachi Heguy returned to 10 as well. A couple of Gringos climbed the ladder as well. Ruki Bailleu went to 8 as well as Luke Tomlinson. They also played in the Argentine Open with a qualifier Team Alegria. Another friend of Ca. polo “the Midget” (Tomas Pieres) made it a very good year going from 6 to 7.
In all this there are now about 10 ten-goal players in the World, but like tennis and golf there is the top ten and then there is a 10. Polo is like golf. Golf has Tiger Woods and Polo has Adolfo Cambiaso and they are a world apart. Both of these pro athletes are both 32 years old, they come from smaller markets and they are the best beyond a doubt. Also similar to Fedder in Tennis. He is so much better than the other players. I do not think he is 32, but he is 3 times better than any other top players. So if 10 is the top either there is one 10 or one Tiger or Fedder. How do you really rate them?
San Diego is nearly full for the Triple Crown Spreckels Cup. So if you want to be in the biggest show in California in 2008 you better hurry as it may already be too late. We have a couple of people there trying to downsize the only Club growing in Ca. and its sad, but its guess what? Greed I believe is the word for it. They support the polo club with the idea Polo is not an expensive sport and they should not pay. We all would like that, but its never going to happen.
On the hit list Geoff Palmer gets the knife (having surgery) in Jan. Fred Mannix, Jr as well. Mike Hakan returns to polo as his knife wounds are now healed. Pat Nesbitt our Governor, if he recovered from the party at the Mansion, is set for Feb. Dan Walker is snorting fire. He has been on the DL for 11 months and Ben Soleimani is looking for some action. He hopes his wing is well fluttering, but no flap yet.
In the World Gym, the first action in the Desert other than the Go Honey, its the Sponsor and Mike Uretz’s team doing very well as Bobby Puetz returns with a new hairdo, but the same charge wide-open. He led World Gym to a 2 and 0 record. On the other side its a Running Canadian as Craig Steinke and Victor Soto came south for a Holiday feast and are feeding on the opponents thus far as they are headed to a showdown with Uncle Mike Uretz if they continue on this path. In the Ladies Tournament, the Debbi Dollar, it was a hard-charging Volmer sisters from the Badlands (Dakota) with some run and hook and hit. Ladies like Joselyn Parker and Jessica Bailey Mano did a tap dance on the other Girls in town. In the B flight it was a female version of the Flying-Galindos as they pounded the neighbors over three days to take home the silver.
Its time to PLAY POLO. See ya
