Greetings from the Port Mayaca Polo Club. The Club wanted to send out a brief update with news and upcoming events after having concluded our first tournament over the Holidays. Congratulations to Santa Maria (low goal) and La Herradura (med. goal) on winning the inaugural Holiday Family Tournament. Thirteen teams participated and every team had at least two family members playing. Family pair participants included the Orthweins, the Gracidas, the Gonzalezes, the Bollinis, the Devrients, the Offens, the Johnstons, the Garcias, the Egans, the Scherers, the Torres’, and the Doughertys. Many thanks to all participants for a great tournament.

The next exciting event on the schedule is the first annual William “Fingey” Connors Memorial Cup , a 12-goal tournament hosted from January 31 – February 9. Fingey Connors originally saw the beauty and potential of Port Mayaca as an equestrian destination in the 1920’s. The Port Mayaca Polo Club is proud to pay homage to his vision by hosting this inaugural 12-goal tournament in his honor. Please contact Brandon Phillips or Stevie Orthwein with entries (or reply to this email).

Looking ahead to March, the Port Mayaca Polo Club is delighted to partner with the Grand Champions Polo Club for the 18 Goal Masters Series from March 5 – March 30. The highlight of the series will be the $25,000 Cup of the Palm Beaches, and the Club eagerly anticipates fun, competitive polo in both Wellington and Martin County and a successful collaboration and partnership with Grand Champions Polo Club.

Finally, Port Mayaca Polo Club practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00 PM and on Sundays at 10:30 AM. The Club will also host Medium and High Goal Match games on Saturdays at 3:00 PM. Please call or email to sign up for Polo or for tours of the new facility. The Club would also like to highlight its Junior Playing Dues: polo players 21 years of age and younger can pay $2500 for the season, which entitles that individual to all practices and tournaments (excluding entry fees). Please contact for more information, or visit the web at www.portmayacapoloclub.com .

Good luck to all for a great winter season, and please continue to look for additional updates.

Best regards,
Port Mayaca Polo Club
