Well if it a long ways a part but it was raining in London and it was raining in Santa Barbara and it was June 5th in both places the last time we had a measurable rain in SB was when I first came here a few decades ago as between 12 and 2.30 we had over a 1/2 an inch and on clay with short roots that’s plowing time so the finals were postponed until this Sunday as a 2 for one deal first game of the next + the finals . Over across the Pond it was a big day even though it was I hear a very wet day , that is not a problem in the UK as it seldom stops Polo period and the fields are very safe as well in these conditions. The big thing was who was going down and they were the big boys , actually both days as Sat also seen some surprises. There will be no team name on this years Queens Cup that has been there before .
On Saturday it was an old Ca. favorite Ruki BAILLIEU AND 1870 stopping the high flying Les Lions and the Merlos Brothers and then it was Enigma with US Open hero Juan Nero put a sudden halt on the boys from Zacara and they head to a meeting on Wed. in the semis Sunday was well wet and very exciting as some huge names came down as Dubai and Mr. Polo A.C. fell to a hard charging Talandraca with old timer Milo
Araujo and a couple of young sticks Facundo Sola and Lucas Monteverde and team Captain Ed Carmignac
and if that was not bad enough it was La Bama De Arco and the mighty Pieres Brothers falling to a new team Richard Millie led by Prince Jeffri and big stick Pablo MacDonough former teammate of the Pieres in the Ar. Open so Wed. could be a very interesting day as Engima takes on 1870 and it pits Matias MacDonough versus the Gringos Ruki and John Paul Clarkin and in the other semi its Talandracas & Senior Milo vs Matias younger brother Pablo and Richard Millie so I think the only person who could repeat maybe Pablo of all the final 4 .
Here at home it is SHOW TIME AS SAN DIEGO POLO Opens Sunday and you know it will be fun and PARTY TIME if you never go to another Polo game go to SD Polo it is a GOOD TIME all THE TIME and you will be back anyway.
Looking ahead to Winter Polo get on the list for Empire as it will be the biggest show on the West Coast period and we have had a expert field man there this week from Argentina Arturo Pasman and he has some ideas but was amazed at the quality of the fields and do not forget the show for the finals and they were not walking around , So let those Ponies RUN.
