Many of us hope so as it is a fact that El Dorado PC has been the biggest club in North America for a long time and it has disappeared from the world of communication lately. People complain about my criticism, but if I did not bring up issues who would know we exist except the organization coming to fill their war chest this week. If we spent some of the money raised or donated to organizations and invested it instead into the Club here at El Dorado, we would probably be back in the saddle. That is just an idea. Maybe they will leave the funds raised here to improve Polo on the West Coast . . . yeah right? Like Backhander says in his articles, the West Coast Polo Community is only 50% of the USPA Membership and we are on the wrong side I guess. You can be sure they will be smiling, shaking hands as they raise money come Thursday night. We will see how many are here for the weekend I would bet most will be in Palm Beach Sunday and thats in Florida.
Can we make El Dorado PC more player-friendly? If they are not planning on lining up to sell the Club property, then lets make it happen here. New players and teams will come if there is someone to help make it happen.
As for polo results it all it looks like a foursome in the 12-goal and its down to a two some in the 8-Goal. Parklane has one giant block in front of them for the big Bronze, Their block is named Casa Blanca and play on Saturday. Also on Saturdate there is one semis with The Hawks and Mini Mac (Julian Mannix) taking on the Governor (Pat Nesbitt) and Windsor Cap who ended up 4 and 2 in the league play. On Friday it will be the 12-Goal League leader Valiente and Captain Bob Jornayvaz (the silver Bullet of Colorado) taking on a Colorado Cowgirl (Jenny Luttrell) and her Cottrell Farm squad. These should be good games or at least as good as they can be with these conditions.
Down South Shane Rice ran out of luck as Isla Carrol ran into “Nick the Stick” on Sunday and came out in second place and in a big upset. Gillian Johnston and her Bendabout team smoked Skeeterville and head to the finals of the second 22-goal Final. It will be Catamount vs. Bendabout.
On the sad side it seems someone or probably more than one individual is making good use of the site of El Dorado / Empire for stealing things such as money, saddles, bridles, computers & phones. This is not something that someone at the Club has not seen. Somebody knows and we will reward them for info. You maybe next!
See ya.
