The third annual University of Utah Pharmacy Cup Champagne Brunch and Polo Match on Saturday, June 25, was a huge success! More than 600 people came to dine on fine cuisine and experience a champion polo match – the only one to take place in Utah.
This fundraiser event celebrates the history of polo at the U of U by offering a glimpse of the “Sport of Kings,” with proceeds benefiting the U of U College of Pharmacy’s new research facility, the L.S. Skaggs Pharmacy Institute, and its overall goal of becoming the premier college of pharmacy in the nation. The U of U College of Pharmacy places emphasis on training tomorrow’s expert pharmacists as well as conducting quality translational research in order to bring new medicines to those who need them most.
The driving force behind the Pharmacy Cup is the daughter of L.S. “Sam” Skaggs, an icon in the grocery industry and a life-long philanthropist. Event guests came dressed in their finest attire, ready for an unforgettable day that included an extensive champagne brunch, a silent auction, entertainment, a “Best Hat” competition, and a professional polo match. Photos from the event are attached.
